A Tour of the CP24 Studio & Chatting with Leena Latafat

Bridge TO Youth happily accepted the invitation to visit the CP24 studio in downtown Toronto. 

The students say they grew up watching CP24 and so say their experience at the news station’s studio was incredible. Guided by Leena Latafat, a top Toronto news reporter, they had the chance to visit the Etalk studio and view photos from the legendary day in 2019 when the Toronto Raptors won the championship. One student says that Latafat did such an amazing job explaining what went down the night when the Raptors one that they felt like they were there too. 

The reason our students say they signed up for this event was to experience the behind the scenes of a prominent news station. A couple students say they were especially curious to learn about the preparation that goes behind each show, what the reporters do during commercial breaks and how they efficiently set-up for the new busy day. A lesson our students took away from this experience was how to balance being quick and efficient in the workplace. 

Our events involve a lot of opportunities to network and in this event our student were glad to ask insightful questions and chat with Latafaz, Brandon Gones as well as other CP24 employees. The journey to journalism was a hot topic and the students had to chance to learn more about career choices in the field. 

A number of our students have decided they would like to pursue a career in journalism upon graduating high school.
